Junior Safety Officer (Housing Projects)

You'll keep the site legal and the workers safe for the high-rise residential project in Alberton. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

You'll be based at a high-rise residential project in Alberton. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Investigate incidents and near misses and report them on time
• Run site inductions for every new worker and visitor
• Prepare monthly safety statistics for the client's agent
• Compile and maintain the site health and safety file under the Construction Regulations 2014
• Keep appointment letters and competency certificates in the file
• Hold toolbox talks on topics that match the week's work
• Track PPE issues and replace damaged equipment

• First Aid Level 1 at least
• Good understanding of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations 2014
• Confident enough to stop unsafe work, even when the programme is tight
• SAMTRAC or an NQF-accredited health and safety qualification
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer

• Experience on renewable energy or high-rise projects
• Diploma in Safety Management
• Fall protection planner training

• Clear growth path to a construction health and safety agent role
• Travel and site allowances
• Paid SACPCMP renewal and CPD
• Laptop and data for reporting

• Bring a sample risk assessment or safety file index you drew up (remove client names). It shows your work better than a list.
• Name the kind of projects you have covered, like roads, housing or wind farms. Clients want sector experience.
