Junior Safety Officer (Housing Projects)

Every person goes home in one piece. That is the job on this renewable energy construction site in Umhlanga. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

The work is in Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Hold toolbox talks on topics that match the week's work
• Write and review risk assessments and safe work method statements
• Check that fall protection plans are in place for work at height
• Track PPE issues and replace damaged equipment
• Keep appointment letters and competency certificates in the file

• Good understanding of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations 2014
• Confident enough to stop unsafe work, even when the programme is tight
• You write clear reports in English
• SAMTRAC or an NQF-accredited health and safety qualification
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer

• ISO 45001 internal auditor course
• Experience on renewable energy or high-rise projects
• Diploma in Safety Management

• Paid SACPCMP renewal and CPD
• Clear growth path to a construction health and safety agent role
• Laptop and data for reporting
• Travel and site allowances

• Bring a sample risk assessment or safety file index you drew up (remove client names). It shows your work better than a list.
