Job Description

A bank's digital channels team in Alberton needs a developer who can take a ticket from idea to production. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is in Alberton (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily.

The work, day to day

Build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs
Pick up tickets from the sprint board and estimate the work
Pair with junior developers to unblock them
Document how your features work for support and new developers
Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries
Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments
Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind

What you need

Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build
You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
Experience writing automated tests

Extra points for

Docker and Kubernetes experience
Cloud certification on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
Experience in regulated sectors such as banking or medical schemes
