Job Description

Clients sleep better when their tax is sorted, and a small tax practice in Germiston needs you to sort it. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

This post is Germiston-based, with most of your time spent at a small tax practice. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

What your day looks like

Check SARS assessments and flag errors to clients
Advise on deductions such as retirement contributions and home office claims
Respond to SARS verification letters and upload documents on time
Draft objections and appeals with supporting schedules
Calculate IRP6 provisional tax for individuals and companies
Prepare VAT201 returns and review input tax claims
Register clients for income tax, VAT and PAYE

You'll need

At least 2 years of SARS eFiling experience
Clear writing for SARS letters and objections
Neat, careful and organised with client documents
Registered tax practitioner with a recognised controlling body such as SAIT or SAIPA
Working knowledge of the Income Tax Act and VAT Act
Degree or diploma in accounting or tax

Helpful, not essential

Experience with trusts, estates and capital gains tax
Tax software experience such as TaxShop or CaseWare
