Job Description

You'll keep clients in good standing with SARS at a small tax practice in Paarl. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Home base is a small tax practice on the Paarl side of Western Cape.

The work, day to day

Track filing season deadlines and send reminders to clients
Draft objections and appeals with supporting schedules
Advise on deductions such as retirement contributions and home office claims
Respond to SARS verification letters and upload documents on time
Apply for tax clearance and tax compliance status PINs

Must-haves

Degree or diploma in accounting or tax
Registered tax practitioner with a recognised controlling body such as SAIT or SAIPA
At least 2 years of SARS eFiling experience
Working knowledge of the Income Tax Act and VAT Act
Clear writing for SARS letters and objections
Comfortable handling tax season overtime

Nice if you have

Postgraduate diploma in tax
Tax software experience such as TaxShop or CaseWare
Experience with trusts, estates and capital gains tax
