Kitchen Assistant (Prep & Scullery)

Service is busy at this wood-fired pizzeria in Epping, so steady hands and a tidy station matter here. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

The work is in Epping, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Label, date and rotate stock using first-in, first-out.
• Cook for banquets and conference lunches of 100 to 400 guests.
• Clean down your section, deep-clean the fryer and scrub the extractor filters.
• Bake breads, pastries or desserts for the morning buffet.
• Cook steaks, burgers and grills to the temperature on the docket.
• Run your station during service and call back every ticket from the pass.
• Help cost recipes and track waste on the weekly sheet.

• Comfortable in heat, on your feet, for long split shifts
• 1 to 3 years in a busy commercial kitchen
• Weekend, holiday and evening work is part of the deal
• Good knife skills and you can prep at speed
