Label and Punnet Packer (Berries) – Permanent

You'll sort, grade and pack fruit for export at a table grape packhouse near Paarl. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Location: Paarl, Western Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Move pallets into cold rooms and record temperatures
• Help clean the line and machines at the end of the day
• Sort fruit by size, colour and blemish on the packing line
• Stack empty cartons and punnets ready for the next run
• Pack cartons to the export pattern and weight
• Build pallets to the correct height and strap them
• Follow food safety rules like hand washing and no jewellery

• Basic counting and reading for labels
• Valid ID or permit
• Available for the full packing season including Saturdays
• Arrives on time for early shifts
• Follows hygiene rules at all times

• Previous packhouse work
• Forklift licence for palletising roles

• Overtime pay during peak weeks
• Rehire for next season if you perform well
• Transport from nearby towns

• If you want a QC post, bring your matric certificate and say you can write neat records.
• Apply before the season starts, often a month before first harvest. Recruiting days fill up fast.
