Job Description

Big machines, long days in season: a sugar cane estate near Epping needs a skilled operator. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

Home base is a sugar cane estate on the Epping side of Western Cape.

What you'll actually do

Haul cane, grain or fruit bins from field to shed
Plant rows straight, using GPS guidance where the tractor has it
Report breakdowns and help the mechanic with repairs
Record hours, fuel and fields worked on the job card
Hook up and drive ploughs, discs, planters and sprayers
Operate combine harvesters during harvest season
Mix and apply sprays exactly as the farm manager prescribes

You'll need

Can read job cards and spray instructions
At least 2 years driving tractors on a farm
Willing to work long hours in planting and harvest seasons
Available to live on or near the farm

Extra points for

A pesticide application or spray course
Basic mechanical skills
Combine harvester experience
