Job Description

A public TVET college in Newcastle needs a facilitator who can teach, assess and keep the paperwork audit-ready. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

The work is in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

What your day looks like

  • Keep attendance registers and learner files ready for SETA verification
  • Sit in on workplace visits to confirm learners are doing real tasks
  • Load learner results onto the SETA or QCTO system
  • Run practical demonstrations in the workshop with safety briefings
  • Give feedback on course materials so the next intake runs better
  • Assess portfolios of evidence and write clear feedback to learners
  • Develop lesson plans, case studies and assessment guides

You'll need

  • Relevant qualification at least one NQF level above the one you'll teach
  • Confident presenting to groups of 20 or more adults
  • Computer literate in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Registered assessor, with moderator registration for moderator posts

Helpful, not essential

  • Teaching qualification or Higher Certificate in adult education
  • Experience with learning management systems such as Moodle

On offer

  • Day-rate contracts with steady bookings
  • Paid re-registration with your SETA
  • Holiday breaks between intakes at colleges
  • Travel allowance or company car for site training

Applying, step by step

  1. Make sure the role, the hours and working in Newcastle really suit you before you apply.
  2. Keep copies of these ready to send: certified copy of your highest qualification, sample of a lesson plan or assessment guide you wrote plus certified copy of your identity document.
  3. Use the form on this page. It takes about two minutes and you don't need to upload anything yet.
  4. If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 5 working days, usually by phone.
