Job Description

A home tutoring agency in Sandton needs a patient tutor who can turn a failing mark into a pass. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is in Sandton (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily.

What your day looks like

  • Prepare learners for control tests with short timed practice drills
  • Assess a new learner's level with a short diagnostic test
  • Write a short progress note for parents after each session
  • Teach one-on-one or in small groups of up to six
  • Adjust your pace for learners with ADHD, dyslexia or anxiety

You'll need

  • Police clearance for work with minors
  • Available at least three afternoons or evenings a week
  • Currently studying at university, or holding a degree or diploma
  • Distinction or strong pass in the subject you'll tutor
  • Reliable internet and a quiet place to teach for online posts
  • Own transport for home tutoring posts

Extra points for

  • Remedial or learning support training
  • TEFL or TESOL certificate for English tutoring
