Load Planner (Road Freight)

Behind every truck on the road is a controller; at a courier operations centre in East London, that could be you. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is in East London (Eastern Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
• Update customers on delivery times and delays
• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers
• Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries

• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
• Calm and decisive when things go wrong
• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
• Good with Excel and email

• Experience on a vehicle telematics platform
• Knowledge of cross-border documentation
• Previous truck driving experience

• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Office-based work with a steady roster
• Growth to transport manager

• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
