Load Planner (Road Freight)

Get off the road and into the control office at a road freight company in Umlazi. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

Home base is a road freight company on the Umlazi side of KwaZulu-Natal. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
• Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries
• Update customers on delivery times and delays
• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests

• Good with Excel and email
• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
• Matric
• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers

• Experience on a vehicle telematics platform
• Logistics or supply chain certificate

• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Growth to transport manager
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems

• Mention the tracking and Excel skills you have. Bring an example report if you are allowed to share one.
• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
