Loading Bay Hand (Beverage Depot)

You'll load and offload trucks at a cement and brick yard in Johannesburg CBD so every delivery goes out full and correct. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

The site is in Johannesburg CBD; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Sweep the bay and clear shrink-wrap after each loading
• Check goods received against the delivery note and flag shorts
• Assemble or place furniture where the customer asks
• Guide trucks reversing into the bay with hand signals
• Load trucks from the load sheet in drop order, last stop first
• Strap and secure loads so nothing shifts in transit
• Offload containers by hand, counting cartons as they come off

• Able to lift and carry heavy items all day
• Honest; you will be handling customer goods and cash-on-delivery slips
• Willing to travel on routes that return late
• No criminal record
• Grade 9 or higher and able to read a delivery note
• Friendly with customers at the door

• Basic furniture assembly skills
• A Code 8 or Code 10 licence (a route to becoming a driver)
• Speaking more than one local language for customer drops

• Help to get your own licence through the company later
• Uniform and safety shoes provided
• Meal allowance on long-route days
• Route-completion incentives in busy months

• Say what hours you can start. Loading bays often hire the person who can be there at 04:00 without fail.
• If you are learning to drive, mention it. Depots like to grow assistants into drivers.
