Lodge Housekeeper (Game Reserve)

Housekeeping at a game lodge in Durban Central is steady work with room to grow into supervising. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

The site is in Durban Central; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Work through a room list, marking rooms clean on the housekeeping board
• Log lost property with the guest's room number and date
• Clean lobby, lifts and public toilets through the day
• Do evening turndowns, closing curtains and setting out slippers
• Load, wash, dry and press linen in the hotel laundry
• Report maintenance faults like dripping taps or broken lights
• Keep your trolley stocked and neat before each shift

• Grade 10 or matric
• Physically able to push trolleys and turn mattresses
• Available on weekends, holidays and in peak season
• Quick and thorough, with a target of about 14 to 16 rooms a shift
• Honest, since you work in guests' rooms alone

• Previous hotel or guesthouse housekeeping experience
• Experience with industrial laundry machines

• Uniform supplied and laundered
• Meals on duty from the staff kitchen
• Share of the service charge or guest tips
• Staff accommodation at remote lodges

• Mention seasonal availability for December and Easter. Coastal and lodge properties hire heavily before those peaks.
