Machine Assistant (Plastics Moulding)

Here in Hammarsdale, a meat processing plant needs steady people who can repeat a task well for eight hours. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

You'll report in Hammarsdale. Relocation is not covered for this one. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages
• Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
• Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card
• Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
• Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product
• Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines

• Available for rotating day and night shifts
• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
• Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
• Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
• Basic reading and counting for batch sheets

• Some basic first-aid training
• Previous work in a food or FMCG factory
• Experience assisting on a packaging or filling machine

• Path to machine operator after six months
• Staff shop with discounted factory products
• Company transport on some night shifts
• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets

• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
