Job Description

Month-end, year-end and audit prep all run through you at an agricultural co-operative in Cape Town CBD. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Location: Cape Town CBD, Western Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

The work, day to day

Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules
Track stock costing, standard costs and production variances
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and clear old reconciling items
Prepare monthly management accounts with variance commentary
Prepare the audit file and answer auditor queries
Run the month-end close and prepare the trial balance
Run cash flow forecasts and manage the weekly payment run

What you need

At least 3 years of post-qualification accounting experience
Experience on an ERP such as Sage X3, Sage 300, Syspro or SAP Business One
BCom Accounting or equivalent degree
Working knowledge of IFRS or IFRS for SMEs
You meet month-end deadlines without being chased
Understanding of South African income tax and VAT

Helpful, not essential

CA(SA) with SAICA, or AGA(SA) or Professional Accountant (SA) with SAIPA
Consolidation experience across several companies
CIMA qualification for management accounting posts
