Good with a scan tool and a torque wrench? This used car dealership workshop in Epping needs you in a bay. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Location: Epping, Western Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Write clear job card notes on what you found and what you fixed
• Replace clutches, brake pads, discs, shocks and timing belts
• Carry out scheduled services to the manufacturer's checklist and interval
• Diagnose engine, ABS and airbag faults with an OBD-II diagnostic scanner
• Do wheel alignments and balancing on the alignment bay
• Road test vehicles before and after repairs
• Keep your bay, tools and special service tools clean and counted

• Neat with customer vehicles: seat covers, floor mats and no grease marks
• Your own basic toolbox
• Confident with diagnostic scan tools and wiring diagrams
• Motor mechanic trade test certificate (Red Seal) or occupational certificate at NQF 4
• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets

• Brand-specific training certificates from a manufacturer academy
• Automatic gearbox or DSG repair experience
• High-voltage hybrid or EV safety training

• Tool allowance or tool insurance
• Manufacturer training courses paid by the dealer
• Productivity bonus on sold hours above target
• Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates

• Attach manufacturer training certificates. They can move you up a technician grade and pay band.
• Put your trade test date and the car brands you know best at the top of your CV.
