Meat Processing Line Worker – Entry Level

Here in Durban Central, a soft drink bottling plant needs steady people who can repeat a task well for eight hours. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Home base is a soft drink bottling plant on the Durban Central side of KwaZulu-Natal. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
• Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages
• Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet
• Move full bins and crates to the next station with a trolley
• Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
• Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
• Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run

• Available for rotating day and night shifts
• Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
• You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
• Basic reading and counting for batch sheets

• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets
• Staff shop with discounted factory products
• Company transport on some night shifts

• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
