Meat Processing Line Worker

You'll keep the line running at a furniture assembly factory in Vereeniging, feeding, checking and packing product all shift. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll be based at a furniture assembly factory in Vereeniging. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages
• Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
• Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card
• Wear hairnets, beard covers and gloves in food-safe zones
• Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product
• Move full bins and crates to the next station with a trolley

• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
• Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
• Available for rotating day and night shifts
• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
• Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
• Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check

• A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate
• Some basic first-aid training
• Experience assisting on a packaging or filling machine

• Path to machine operator after six months
• Staff shop with discounted factory products
• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets
• Night-shift allowance on top of basic pay

• Name the products you worked on before, like "biscuit line" or "juice bottling". Factory recruiters read that faster than a job title.
• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
