Mechanised Development Miner (Trackless)

Have a blasting certificate and a clean safety record? The mechanised hard-rock mine near Bethlehem needs your crew leadership. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll be based at a mechanised hard-rock mine in Bethlehem. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Report misfires straight away and handle them strictly by the procedure
• Test for flammable gas and check ventilation before and after blasting
• Stop work when a condition is unsafe, using your right to withdraw
• Do the early entry examination and make the workplace safe before the crew enters
• Record face advance, tons broken and support installed on the shift report
• Hold a start-of-shift safety talk and deal with any unsafe condition

• Able to lead a crew of 8 to 20 people in a language they understand
• No serious safety transgressions in your record
• Certificate of fitness from the mine medical station, including heat tolerance screening where required
• Grade 12 or equivalent, plus the MQA-accredited miner training

• Underground allowance for every shift below surface
• Medical aid and mine medical station access
• Pension fund with employer contributions
• Production bonus based on metres or square metres achieved

• Mines check your safety record with previous employers. Mention any safety awards or zero-harm periods your crew achieved.
