Medical Billing Clerk (Specialist Rooms) – Permanent

You'll keep the front of a specialist orthopaedic rooms in Richards Bay organised so the doctors can focus on patients. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll report in Richards Bay. Relocation is not covered for this one. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Answer the phones and send clinical questions to the right nurse or doctor
• Book appointments and manage the doctor's diary on the practice software
• Take payments, issue receipts and balance the cash-up at close
• Request pre-authorisation for scans, procedures and admissions
• Open patient files and capture consent forms in line with POPIA
• Keep patient records locked and share them only with written consent

• Friendly on the phone and firm about outstanding accounts
• Confident with Excel and email
• Sound knowledge of ICD-10 coding and medical aid tariff codes
• You keep patient information private, every time
• Matric

• Understanding of how HPCSA practitioner and BHF practice numbers are used on claims
• Medical terminology or clinical coding certificate
• Worked for a specialist discipline such as radiology, anaesthesia or orthopaedics
