Midibus Driver (School Routes)

Steady shift work with a school transport operator in Thohoyandou for drivers with a passenger PrDP. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll be based at a school transport operator in Thohoyandou. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Check passenger tickets, tags or staff cards when boarding
• Drive fixed routes and keep to the timetable
• Keep the bus clean inside and report any damage
• Follow speed limits strictly; buses are tracked
• Inspect the bus before each trip: tyres, brakes, doors, emergency exits
• Write the trip log with times, kilometres and fuel
• Give tourists a friendly welcome and help with luggage on charters

• Valid PrDP for passengers (P)
• At least 3 years of bus or taxi driving
• Patient and friendly with passengers
• Punctual for very early starts
• Medically fit

• Experience on mine or staff transport routes
• Tour coach experience with charters

• Split-shift allowance on staff transport routes
• Paid passenger PrDP renewal
• Tips and trip allowances on tour charters

• Write "PrDP P valid until" with the date, right at the top of your CV. It is the first thing a bus operator checks.
• Mention the number of passengers you have driven and the vehicle type, like "65-seater" or "22-seater midibus".
