Mine Bus Driver (Shift Transport) – Fixed-Term

Early starts, clear routes and people depending on you: a tour and charter company in Potchefstroom is hiring bus drivers. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

This post is Potchefstroom-based, with most of your time spent at a tour and charter company. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Give tourists a friendly welcome and help with luggage on charters
• Check passenger tickets, tags or staff cards when boarding
• Inspect the bus before each trip: tyres, brakes, doors, emergency exits
• Write the trip log with times, kilometres and fuel
• Follow speed limits strictly; buses are tracked
• Drive fixed routes and keep to the timetable
• Count passengers and make sure nobody stands beyond the limit

• Valid Code 10 or Code 14 licence
• Clean driving and criminal record
• At least 3 years of bus or taxi driving
• Valid PrDP for passengers (P)

• Fluent in more than one language
• Tour coach experience with charters
• Experience on mine or staff transport routes

• Company uniform
• Tips and trip allowances on tour charters
• Split-shift allowance on staff transport routes
• Paid passenger PrDP renewal

• Talk about safety records in the interview. Bus companies want to hear about zero accidents and on-time runs.
• Write "PrDP P valid until" with the date, right at the top of your CV. It is the first thing a bus operator checks.
