Job Description

Here your code runs in production, not in a drawer: a bank's digital channels team in Hammarsdale. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Location: Hammarsdale, KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What your day looks like

Write unit and integration tests before you merge
Document how your features work for support and new developers
Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments
Pair with junior developers to unblock them
Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries
Pick up tickets from the sprint board and estimate the work
Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards

You'll need

Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build
You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
Experience writing automated tests
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days

Extra points for

Experience in regulated sectors such as banking or medical schemes
Cloud certification on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
Knowledge of secure coding and the OWASP Top 10
