Job Description

Write clean code, review pull requests and fix what breaks at a logistics software company in Johannesburg CBD. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a logistics software company in Johannesburg CBD. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

What you'll actually do

Build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs
Write unit and integration tests before you merge
Pick up tickets from the sprint board and estimate the work
Document how your features work for support and new developers
Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind
Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab

What you need

A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build
You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript

Nice if you have

Public GitHub portfolio or published app
Knowledge of secure coding and the OWASP Top 10
Cloud certification on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
