Job Description

Here your code runs in production, not in a drawer: an insurance company software team in Sandton. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll report in Sandton. Relocation is not covered for this one. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

What you'll actually do

Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind
Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments
Pick up tickets from the sprint board and estimate the work
Join daily stand-ups and sprint planning
Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries
Write unit and integration tests before you merge
Build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs

Must-haves

Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build
Experience writing automated tests

Nice if you have

Cloud certification on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
Public GitHub portfolio or published app
Docker and Kubernetes experience
