Night Shift Security Officer (Grade D)

The gate at a distribution warehouse in Isando is the first line of safety, and you would be standing at it. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll be based at a distribution warehouse in Isando. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Check visitors' IDs and capture them on the visitor app or in the gate register
• Direct traffic and parking during school drop-off or big events
• Open and close boom gates for residents, deliveries and contractors
• Write every incident and shift change in the occurrence book (OB)
• Keep the guardhouse clean and the OB up to date for the relieving officer
• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols

• Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred
• PSIRA registration at Grade C or higher, paid up to date
• Physically fit for foot patrols
• Clean criminal record
• Speaks and writes basic English
• Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends

• A Code 8 licence for vehicle patrols
• Firefighting or evacuation training

• Provident fund contributions
• Paid night-shift allowance under the security sector rules
• Stable long-term site contracts

• Make sure your PSIRA fees are paid. A lapsed registration gets your CV thrown out, even if you have years of experience.
• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
