Nursery Worker (Seedlings)

Crops do not wait, and a commercial seedling nursery near Kuruman needs extra hands this season. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll report in Kuruman. Relocation is not covered for this one. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Clean and store picking bags, ladders and secateurs
• Keep your picking card or tag count for daily pay
• Prune and thin fruit trees and vines to the farm's method
• Follow the re-entry times after spraying, as the signs show
• Weed beds by hand or with a hoe

• Able to work outdoors in heat, cold and rain
• Willing to start at sunrise
• Available for the full harvest season
• Physically fit for bending, lifting and climbing ladders

• Living on or near the farm
• Previous harvest or picking experience
• Pruning experience on vines or fruit trees

• Piece-rate bonus on top of daily wage
• Chance of a permanent post after good seasons
• Seasonal accommodation on some farms
• Farm transport from nearby towns

• Have your bank details ready. Most farms pay into a bank account and will not start you without it.
• Farms hire before the season starts, so apply four to six weeks early. Late arrivals often find the teams already full.
