Nursing Assistant (Rehabilitation Unit)

A home-based care agency in Bloemfontein needs someone kind and reliable to look after patients who can't manage alone. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is Bloemfontein-based, with most of your time spent at a home-based care agency.

• Do simple wound dressings and report anything that looks infected
• Help patients bath, dress, eat and use the toilet with dignity
• Hand out oral medication under the supervision of a registered nurse
• Help patients walk, transfer from bed to chair and do their exercises
• Make beds, change linen and keep the rooms clean and uncluttered
• Turn bed-bound patients on schedule and check pressure areas for early sores
• Follow infection control rules, including hand hygiene and safe sharps disposal

• Patient and gentle with elderly, frail or confused people
• First aid Level 1 or BLS certificate
• Able to work shifts, including nights and weekends
• SANC enrolment as an Enrolled Nurse or Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary for nursing posts
• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely

• Overtime paid at time and a half
• Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care
• Uniform supplied
