Off-Site Video Monitoring Operator

From a chair in a remote video monitoring centre in Pretoria West, you guide officers in the field to where they are needed. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll report in Pretoria West. Relocation is not covered for this one.

• Monitor live CCTV feeds and zoom in on suspicious movement
• Track stolen vehicles on the map and guide recovery teams
• Hand over open incidents clearly at shift change
• Answer alarm signals and phone clients to verify them
• Dispatch the nearest response vehicle over the radio
• Report camera faults and offline sites to the technicians
• Talk down intruders over on-site speakers when the system allows

• PSIRA registration, Grade C or higher
• No criminal convictions (vetting is done before you start)
• Good memory for sites, streets and procedures
• Clear speaking voice on radio and phone
• Matric

• CCTV operator short course
• Speaking more than one local language
• Call centre work in the past

• Shift allowance for nights
• Training on the monitoring software
• Indoor, air-conditioned work environment

• Some companies give a typing and map test. Practise finding streets on a map quickly before the interview.
• Show you can stay alert at night. If you have done night shift before without problems, say so.
