Orchard Worker (Pruning and Thinning) – Experienced

Harvest time on a vegetable farm near Brackenfell means early mornings, full crates and paid overtime. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Brackenfell-based, with most of your time spent at a vegetable farm. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Pick fruit or vegetables at the right ripeness and size, gently
• Wash hands and use the field toilets for food safety
• Fill crates or bins and carry them to the collection point
• Prune and thin fruit trees and vines to the farm's method
• Keep your picking card or tag count for daily pay

• Valid ID or work permit
• Follows farm hygiene and safety rules
• Careful with fruit, since bruised fruit is rejected
• Willing to start at sunrise
• Available for the full harvest season
• Physically fit for bending, lifting and climbing ladders

• Pruning experience on vines or fruit trees
• Living on or near the farm
• Tractor or quad bike experience

• Farm transport from nearby towns
• Chance of a permanent post after good seasons
• Piece-rate bonus on top of daily wage
• Seasonal accommodation on some farms

• Have your bank details ready. Most farms pay into a bank account and will not start you without it.
• If you have picked before, say which crop and how many seasons. Farms rehire experienced pickers first.
