Orchard Worker (Pruning and Thinning) – Fixed-Term

Harvest time on a citrus farm near Polokwane means early mornings, full crates and paid overtime. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

Home base is a citrus farm on the Polokwane side of Limpopo. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Wash hands and use the field toilets for food safety
• Tie up tomato and pepper plants in tunnels
• Follow the re-entry times after spraying, as the signs show
• Clean and store picking bags, ladders and secateurs
• Pick fruit or vegetables at the right ripeness and size, gently
• Plant seedlings in rows at the spacing shown

• Careful with fruit, since bruised fruit is rejected
• Follows farm hygiene and safety rules
• Willing to start at sunrise
• Valid ID or work permit

• Chance of a permanent post after good seasons
• Seasonal accommodation on some farms
• Piece-rate bonus on top of daily wage
• Farm transport from nearby towns

• Have your bank details ready. Most farms pay into a bank account and will not start you without it.
• If you have picked before, say which crop and how many seasons. Farms rehire experienced pickers first.
