Order Picker (Cold Store)

Pick it right, pack it neat, send it out: that's the job at a frozen-food distribution centre in George. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is George-based, with most of your time spent at a frozen-food distribution centre. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Replenish empty pick faces from overstock racking
• Keep aisles clear of plastic, cardboard and loose pallets
• Report damaged, short or expired items to the shift supervisor
• Unpack returned parcels and sort them into resell or write-off
• Scan every item so the system shows the right stock count
• Label boxes with the correct waybill and route sticker

• You're fit enough to lift boxes up to 25kg all shift
• Willing to wear safety boots, a reflector vest and gloves
• You can read product codes and count accurately
• Grade 10 or higher; matric preferred

• Previous picking experience with a handheld RF scanner
• A valid forklift or reach truck certificate

• Safety boots, overalls and freezer jackets supplied
• Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekdays
• Chance to be trained on forklift after probation

• If you have done any stock counts, packing or even shelf work before, list it first. It shows you already know how to handle stock.
• Arrive for the interview in closed shoes. Some warehouses walk you through the floor straight away.
