Packaging Line Operator (Rotating Shifts)

Here in Hammarsdale, a plastic moulding plant needs steady people who can repeat a task well for eight hours. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is in Hammarsdale (KwaZulu-Natal). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
• Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet
• Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product
• Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
• Wear hairnets, beard covers and gloves in food-safe zones
• Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
• Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects

• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
• Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
• You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
• Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage

• A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate
• Experience assisting on a packaging or filling machine

• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets
• Night-shift allowance on top of basic pay
• Staff shop with discounted factory products

• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
