Packaging Line Operator (Rotating Shifts)

Good factory hands stay for years, and this furniture assembly factory in Pinetown trains from day one. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a furniture assembly factory in Pinetown. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet
• Move full bins and crates to the next station with a trolley
• Wear hairnets, beard covers and gloves in food-safe zones
• Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects
• Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product
• Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages
• Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number

• Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
• You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
• Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
• Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check

• Previous work in a food or FMCG factory
• NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed
• Experience assisting on a packaging or filling machine

• Company transport on some night shifts
• Staff shop with discounted factory products
• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets

• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
