Packaging Line Operator (Rotating Shifts) – Fixed-Term

Machines set the pace at this snack food factory in Randburg; you keep up and catch the faults. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is Randburg-based, with most of your time spent at a snack food factory. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card
• Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
• Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
• Wear hairnets, beard covers and gloves in food-safe zones
• Move full bins and crates to the next station with a trolley
• Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects
• Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run

• Neat, reliable and on time for shift start
• Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
• Available for rotating day and night shifts
• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area

• Experience assisting on a packaging or filling machine
• Some basic first-aid training
• A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate

• Path to machine operator after six months
• Night-shift allowance on top of basic pay
• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets

• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
