Paint Preparer (Body Shop) – Permanent

You'll bring accident-damaged cars back to factory standard at the fleet repair centre in Kimberley. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Home base is a fleet repair centre on the Kimberley side of Northern Cape.

• Apply filler, sand and prime to a smooth, ready surface
• Mask up vehicles properly to keep overspray off glass and trim
• Pull and straighten chassis damage on a measuring jig
• Spray base coat and 2K clear coat in the booth
• Fit new panels using spot welding and bonding methods
• Repair dents with hammers, dollies and a stud welder
• Mix paint colours with a spectrophotometer and the mixing scheme

• Able to work to insurer repair times and quality standards
• Knowledge of spray booth safety and respirator use
• A portfolio or references from previous body shops
• Physically able to stand, bend and kneel for long periods
• Panel beating or spray painting trade test, or at least 4 years of proven work

• Paint supplier training courses
• Full respirator and spray suit supplied
• Clean, modern booth and prep area
• Productivity bonus per completed job

• Say which paint systems you have used, like waterborne base coat with a 2K clear. Body shops care about this.
• Before-and-after photos are your best proof. Keep them on your phone, ready to show at the interview.
