Painter's Assistant (Renovations) – Permanent

You'll mix, carry, dig and clean up so the tradespeople on a shopping centre renovation in Midrand can keep building. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

The work is in Midrand, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Cut and lay paving bricks along string lines
• Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
• Mix concrete and mortar by hand or with a small mixer
• Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work
• Clean tools, mixers and wheelbarrows at the end of each day
• Set up barriers, cones and signs around open trenches
• Clear rubble and load it into skips

• A clean record is preferred for some government sites
• You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE
• Grade 8 or higher
• Prepared to travel between sites in the area
• Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan

• Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
• Paid weekly or fortnightly
• Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site
• Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant
