Job Description

You'll sort, grade and pack fruit for export at an avocado packhouse near Gqeberha. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Home base is an avocado packhouse on the Gqeberha side of Eastern Cape.

What you'll actually do

Build pallets to the correct height and strap them
Check fruit samples and record quality results on the QC sheet
Stack empty cartons and punnets ready for the next run
Pack cartons to the export pattern and weight
Sort fruit by size, colour and blemish on the packing line
Follow food safety rules like hand washing and no jewellery
Keep your packing station clean and free of stems and leaves

You'll need

Valid ID or permit
Basic counting and reading for labels
Arrives on time for early shifts
Able to stand at a line for long shifts
Available for the full packing season including Saturdays

Helpful, not essential

Previous packhouse work
Forklift licence for palletising roles
