Job Description

Packing season at an avocado packhouse near Soweto means lots of shifts and lots of work. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll report in Soweto. Relocation is not covered for this one. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

What your day looks like

Follow food safety rules like hand washing and no jewellery
Move pallets into cold rooms and record temperatures
Stack empty cartons and punnets ready for the next run
Build pallets to the correct height and strap them
Stick labels and batch codes on each carton
Sort fruit by size, colour and blemish on the packing line
Pack cartons to the export pattern and weight

You'll need

Valid ID or permit
Quick and neat with your hands
Follows hygiene rules at all times
Arrives on time for early shifts
Able to stand at a line for long shifts

Helpful, not essential

Previous packhouse work
Knowledge of export standards like GLOBALG.A.P.

On offer
