Panel Beater (Accident Repair Centre)

You'll bring accident-damaged cars back to factory standard at the independent panel shop in Boksburg. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll be based at an independent panel shop in Boksburg. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Pull and straighten chassis damage on a measuring jig
• Repair dents with hammers, dollies and a stud welder
• Cut and polish to remove dust marks and orange peel
• Fit new panels using spot welding and bonding methods
• Photograph repair stages for the insurance assessor
• Spray base coat and 2K clear coat in the booth

• Experience with modern waterborne or high-solids paint systems
• Panel beating or spray painting trade test, or at least 4 years of proven work
• Able to work to insurer repair times and quality standards
• Knowledge of spray booth safety and respirator use
• Physically able to stand, bend and kneel for long periods
• A portfolio or references from previous body shops

• Experience as a workshop controller in a body shop
• Measuring jig and electronic measuring experience
• Aluminium and high-strength steel repair training

• Say which paint systems you have used, like waterborne base coat with a 2K clear. Body shops care about this.
