Part-Time Bookkeeper (Small Business)

Every invoice, payment and bank line at this property management company in Brits goes through your hands. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll report in Brits. Relocation is not covered for this one. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Match orders, delivery notes and invoices before a payment goes out
• Keep the filing system in order for the annual audit or review
• Run petty cash and file slips with proper supporting documents
• Reconcile bank accounts daily and clear unallocated items
• Load supplier payments on internet banking for authorisation

• Matric with Accounting
• Practical skill in Sage Pastel, Sage Business Cloud or Xero
• Good with Excel: VLOOKUP, pivot tables and simple formulas
• Bookkeeping certificate or diploma (ICB, FASSET learnership or similar)

• Experience with inventory costing in a trading business
• Registered with SAIPA or the ICB as a bookkeeper

• Paid study leave for bookkeeping exams
• Hybrid work after probation at some practices
• Office hours with no weekend work

• Say how far you take the books, for example "to trial balance" or "to management accounts"; it tells recruiters your level.
• Recruiters often give a short Excel or recon test, so practise a bank recon before the interview.
