Part-Time Bookkeeper (Small Business)

Every invoice, payment and bank line at this small accounting practice in Burgersfort goes through your hands. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll be based at a small accounting practice in Burgersfort. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Reconcile creditors statements and sort out differences with suppliers
• Load supplier payments on internet banking for authorisation
• Run petty cash and file slips with proper supporting documents
• Keep the filing system in order for the annual audit or review
• Match orders, delivery notes and invoices before a payment goes out
• Post month-end journals for accruals, prepayments and depreciation

• Understanding of VAT input and output rules
• Matric with Accounting
• At least 2 years of hands-on bookkeeping or clerk work
• Accurate with figures and careful with supplier bank details

• Knowledge of Sage Evolution or QuickBooks
• Experience with debt collection letters and handover to attorneys
• Experience with inventory costing in a trading business

• Hybrid work after probation at some practices
• Thirteenth cheque at many small firms
• Office hours with no weekend work
• Paid study leave for bookkeeping exams
