Part-Time Bookkeeper (Small Business) – Fixed-Term

A wholesale distributor in Durban Central needs a bookkeeper who closes the month on time, every month. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

The work is in Durban Central, KwaZulu-Natal, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Post month-end journals for accruals, prepayments and depreciation
• Prepare VAT201 workings for the accountant to submit on SARS eFiling
• Run petty cash and file slips with proper supporting documents
• Load supplier payments on internet banking for authorisation
• Keep the filing system in order for the annual audit or review
• Match orders, delivery notes and invoices before a payment goes out

• Understanding of VAT input and output rules
• Matric with Accounting
• At least 2 years of hands-on bookkeeping or clerk work
• Accurate with figures and careful with supplier bank details

• Thirteenth cheque at many small firms
• Hybrid work after probation at some practices
• Paid study leave for bookkeeping exams
• Office hours with no weekend work
