Patrol Officer (Warehouse Perimeter)

Steady 12-hour shifts at an industrial park in Richards Bay for PSIRA-registered officers. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

The site is in Richards Bay; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Open and close boom gates for residents, deliveries and contractors
• Direct traffic and parking during school drop-off or big events
• Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty
• Call the armed response or SAPS number from the call list when needed
• Keep the guardhouse clean and the OB up to date for the relieving officer
• Hand out and collect contractor access cards
• Patrol the perimeter on a set route and scan checkpoint tags

• Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred
• Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends
• Clean criminal record
• Alert, polite and firm with the public
• Speaks and writes basic English

• Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training
• Stable long-term site contracts
• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued
• Paid night-shift allowance under the security sector rules

• Make sure your PSIRA fees are paid. A lapsed registration gets your CV thrown out, even if you have years of experience.
• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
