Gate Security Officer (Residential Estate) – Fixed-Term

Steady 12-hour shifts at a private school campus in Richards Bay for PSIRA-registered officers. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

Home base is a private school campus on the Richards Bay side of KwaZulu-Natal. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Open and close boom gates for residents, deliveries and contractors
• Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty
• Write every incident and shift change in the occurrence book (OB)
• Search vehicles and bags leaving the site when company policy requires it
• Patrol the perimeter on a set route and scan checkpoint tags
• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols

• PSIRA registration at Grade C or higher, paid up to date
• Alert, polite and firm with the public
• Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends
• Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred

• Firefighting or evacuation training
• A Code 8 licence for vehicle patrols

• Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training
• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued
• Provident fund contributions
• Stable long-term site contracts

• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
• Make sure your PSIRA fees are paid. A lapsed registration gets your CV thrown out, even if you have years of experience.
