Tactical Response Officer (Night Shift)

Serious work for a serious officer: armed response across a suburban residential area in Durban Central. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is Durban Central-based, with most of your time spent at a suburban residential area. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Write detailed incident reports on the tablet or in the vehicle logbook
• Visit clients for key-holder checks and open-up requests
• Do vehicle checks: tyres, fuel, lights and siren
• Drive the response vehicle safely at speed to client addresses
• Carry out visible patrols through the sector between call-outs
• Give first aid at an incident until paramedics take over

• Calm under pressure and physically fit
• PSIRA Grade B or C with an armed response course
• Clean criminal record and no pending cases
• At least 2 years in guarding or response
• Able to work 12-hour rotating shifts

• SAPS, SANDF or reservist background
• Advanced driving course

• Group life cover through the provident fund
• Response vehicle and firearm provided
• Regular refresher shooting practice
• Danger and night allowances

• Mention the areas you know well. Companies prefer officers who can find addresses fast without a GPS.
• Bring the originals of your certificates to the interview. Armed companies verify them before a shooting test.
