Paving Team Labourer – Experienced

Every wall and slab on this road rehabilitation project in Epping needs labourers, and the crew needs one more. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The work is in Epping, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
• Help offload deliveries of steel, timber and pipes
• Clean tools, mixers and wheelbarrows at the end of each day
• Pass tools and materials to the plumber or electrician as needed
• Cut and lay paving bricks along string lines
• Dig trenches and foundations to the depth the foreman marks
• Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work

• A clean record is preferred for some government sites
• Willing to start early, often at 06:30
• Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan
• Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather

• Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant
• Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site
• Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
• Paid weekly or fortnightly

• If a foreman can vouch for you, put their number on your CV. Site hiring runs on word of mouth.
• List past sites by name and what you did there, like "mixed concrete, laid kerbs". It proves you have done real site work.
