Pest Control and Hygiene Assistant

You'll do the heavy cleaning at a dairy processing factory in Centurion, the kind that needs machines, chemicals and training. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is Centurion-based, with most of your time spent at a dairy processing factory. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Foam, scrub and rinse walls, floors and conveyors with approved chemicals
• Lock out machines before cleaning, as the safety file requires
• Strip down and wash production equipment after the last run
• Shampoo carpets and upholstery with an extraction machine
• Clean drains and grease traps in commercial kitchens
• Clear builders' dust, paint and cement off floors and windows after construction

• Physically strong for wet, heavy work
• Respect for chemical safety and PPE
• Reliable, as crews are small and each person counts
• Willing to work nights and weekends when plants shut down
• Grade 10 or better; you must read chemical labels and safety data sheets

• Pest control registration under the fumigation rules
• Experience using a high-pressure washer or carpet extractor

• Higher hourly rate than standard cleaning
• Paid training on machines and chemicals
• Night-shift and standby allowances
• Full PPE: waterproof suits, boots, goggles and respirators

• If you hold a heights or rope access ticket, attach it. It can double what you earn in this line of work.
• Put the machines and chemicals you have used at the top of your CV. Industrial cleaning companies hire on skills, not just willingness.
