Piggery Stockperson

Animals do not take weekends off, and a sheep farm near Hammarsdale needs caring, reliable hands. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is Hammarsdale-based, with most of your time spent at a sheep farm.

• Keep water troughs and drinkers working
• Help the vet with vaccinations and treatments
• Check animals for illness or injury and report to the manager
• Follow biosecurity rules like foot baths and clean overalls
• Collect eggs or check broiler house temperatures

• Gentle and patient with animals
• Able to live on the farm or close by
• South African ID or a legal work permit
• Willing to work early mornings, weekends and public holidays on rotation
• Reliable, since animals depend on you
• Follows hygiene and biosecurity rules

• Supervisory experience for foreman roles
• Animal health or AgriSETA short course

• Farm housing on site
• Production bonus on milk yield or growth targets
• Milk or meat rations

• Say which animals you have worked with and for how long. Farmers want someone who already knows the routine.
• For foreman roles, mention how many workers you supervised and what you were in charge of.
